Don’t get caught – Fax Scam
Today, we received a suspicious fax from what appeared to be “The Australian Register of Who’s Who”. This is the second time we received a similar fax and the first time we received this fax we almost completed it and was in the process of faxing it back. Since it looked a bit suspicious, i.e it didn’t have a website address or a telephone number I decided to research more about this company and the person listed in the fax. Below is an image of the fax we received:
Within seconds of googling the company and the fax number, there was quite a number of results and other people having reported thisĀ and it’s definitely a scam. Apparently, once you fax the form “they” will contact you and try to get you to sign up as a member and obtain your credit card details.
What I learnt from this event is to make sure you spend some time to reasearch and investigate the company you’re providing information to.It seems like it’s common sense but there has been so many of us that has fallen in this trap, so be careful and don’t get caught.
