ANZ Mobile Banking on the Blackberry
Today, I had to process an urgent invoice so I thought to myself why not use my Blackberry to make the payment via the ANZ website.
I thought it was going to be a very simple process, login, enter the bank details and then make the payment. This wasn’t the case.
So this is what happened: I logged in to the ANZ Internet Banking website using the built in Blackberry browser. It was then stuck on the Welcome to the ANZ Internet Banking screen and couldn’t click (press) on the “Proceed to Internet Banking”. Maybe there’s a trick to do this?
I then remembered that there was an ANZ ad a while ago promoting the ANZ Mobile Banking Facility so I decided to search in google for this term and found the site. Here’s the site: https://www.anz.com/inetbank/mobiledevice/login.asp
The only problem with using this site on the Blackberry was that upon clicking on any of the buttons, the “Loading Sign” just kept appearing. Upon reviewing the source code on the a normal web browser I discovered that the site was designed for the iPhone.
So basically, you can’t use an ANZ Mobile or Internet banking with the Blackberry. Now, I hope this facility can be introduced fairly soon.

I had the same query/problem 6 months ago when I first got my blackberry bold. It’s unbelievable that so many “corporates” (from like 5 years ago) and now more of the public are using Blackberry devices…ANZ still has not developed any Internet Banking application for the Blackberry. Blackberry devices are used just as much as the iPhone, so I don’t know why they haven’t come up with the idea yet. It’s silly that connecting via the explorer still cannot access the Internet Banking application.

are there any banks that work on the bb?

not too sure. I haven’t seeked around other banks (yet). I’ve been trying to enquire with ANZ to get an app happening.

That’s good to hear that you’re following this up Henry. The blackberry community would be very interested to see an outcome from this so if you could follow this up and provide us with any updates that will be greatly appreciated.

Guys, below is the response from ANZ. I would recommend that if you support our idea of an application for ANZ Internet Banking on the Blackberry device…to then also email inetbank@anz.com and advise of your need. The more comments from Blackberry users, the more it will push ANZs development team to initiate this project sooner:

Yes that’s a great idea. I’ve used the blackberry for over a year and I would love to perform day to day banking transactions. Great initiative and everyone who has a Blackberry should support this.

Not just personal banking, I want to see my business accounts and track my mortgage on it too. Basically all I can see from the online version.

Sounds great Steve. I would also love to check my CC info and mortgage.

Seeing your mortgage online too?! That’s a pretty damn good idea too actually. If ANZ can initiate this online banking for the blackberry with access to business and mortgage accounts, they’d be on top of the market with the idea. And just fyi: NAB has already got an application out for the Blackberry. Come on ANZ!! Simpler and most convenient banking you say?? Prove it to the Blackberry community.

Yes I agree… any means to access ANZ account information is a good idea. But I guess the first step would be to get ANZ to have something… anything for the blackberry. Damn… all my accounts and business account is with ANZ. Would it would be a hassle to switch across to NAB.
I like your statement “simple and most convenient”.

Yep I know what you mean. All my accounts are with ANZ too. There’s no way I want to move all my accounts to another bank (time and hassle). I think the best way is for the blackberry community to keep emailing inetbank@anz.com persisting for such app to be freely available.
These days all the phone companies (Vodafone, Optus, Telstra, Crazy John’s) have great deals with blackberry and the prices are getting cheaper by the month. It’s inevitable that the use of blackberry will increase in consumer use. ANZ needs to pick up their game and the only “how” is by the consumers telling them what needs to be done.

I’ve posted something on crackberry.com but would be good if the editor can post something to their blackberry community and link it to this post. I’ve sent them an email but had no response. You may want to try as well. It would be the only way to get heaps of blackberry users to follow our lead.

No worries, I’II get something posted up on crackberry shortly. Fingers crossed!
