Apologies Advertise Me Enquiries
Apr 10th
We would like to apologise to all of those who sent us an enquiry and never received a response from us. Yesterday we discovered that our online mailer form (enquiry form) was not working and hasn’t been working since January 2010. It was just by accident that we were talking about how we haven’t received an online enquiry for a while and I decided to test the form to make sure it was working… and it wasn’t (my heart sank) and wondered what happened and how many opportunities and enquiries we missed because of this issue.
Apparently back in January when our hosting domain was migrated across to a new server (see post http://www.advertiseme.com.au/blog/index.php/2010/01/10/downtime-on-our-email-hosting/) some of the settings were not migrated across and this has caused the issue.
Upon fixing this issue we immediately received a backlog of enquiries and let me assure you that we will attend to these immediately. We just hope that it’s not too late to contact these people. What we’ve learnt from this little unfortunate experience is to make sure we test everything and I mean EVERYTHING when websites are migrated across to a new server or platform – this includes the MAILER FORM.
So once again on behalf of advertise me, we would like to apologise to those who have sent us an online enquiry and never responded.
Have you experienced a similar situation? Please share that with us in the comments.
Downtime on our Email Hosting
Jan 10th
Yesterday our email system was down for almost the whole day and sometimes we forget to realise how dependant we are on technology. To give you a brief summary of what happened, we recently upgraded our hosting account from IIS6 to IIS7. Normally the process is very straight forward and should only take 24 hours. Well our one took almost 4 days with constant follow ups and it was eventually completed. But yesterday I received an email from donotreply@blackberry.com on my blackberry with the title “Action required: update password!”. I initially thought it was spam but reading through the instructions it seemed legitimate. I tried logging into my Blackberry Internet Service account by using the email setup application on the blackberry but I somehow forgot what my username and password was.
