Integrating Facebook with our blogs
Aug 31st
I decided to start doing a bit more social with our blogs and signed up for the facebook api integration. In our blog posts you’ll notice the I Like Facebook buttons and the ability to login using your facebook account. One of the additional features we’ve included is the ability to comment using your facebook account.
There were two plugins we used: WP-FacebookConnect and Facebook Like. The idea of using these plugins and integrating our blogs to facebook is to generate more traffic and make it easier for our readers to comment on blog posts. We hope you like these features.
Using Social Networking Websites to Advertise Your Business
May 21st
Using social networking websites such as twitter and facebook are now becoming the norm for advertising and marketing your business products or services. Quite a number of business all over the world are using twitter and facebook to connect and promote their businesses using viral marketing techniques. Creating an account for twitter and facebook is an easy task, but then how do you start promoting these two useful tools and start building a loyal fan or follower?
I believe the trick is to cross promote your business using these tool and give your fans and followers something that no other business is providing – maybe it’s humour, maybe it’s honesty, or it could even be the fact that your business is listening to what they are saying. To be honest we haven’t had a change to get around to setting up a facebook page for our company. We do have one for our Squeak brand – here’s our facebook page feel free to become a fan. We do intend to set up a facebook page in the next couple of months so what this space (that’s if we get around to it).
With twitter, we actually have almost 300 followers – here’s our twitter profile. now I’m not too sure how many of these followers are actually legit but for those that are thanks for following us. If it’s done correctly you can actually integrate twitter into your facebook account and vice versa. So potentially you can reach both your fans and followers.
Does anyone have any good strategies for using twitter and facebook?
New Facebook layout – now where’s the breadcrumbs
Feb 6th
My wife pointed out to me last night that facebook had somewhat “changed”. She basically told me that she couldn’t find the “logout” button and after a little bit of searching we ended up finding this in the Accounts tab. Now explain to me why you would have to click twice to logout? After a bit of researching we discovered that facebook had a new facelift and there’s a few changes to the design and layout of the homepage. For those of you who haven’t noticed you can read about all the changes here.
Updating your Social Networking status updates
Jan 11th
For those of you who are using a twitter or facebook account, do you have to manually and update your status information? Do you find it tedious and time consuming to think of something to update?
What we’ve done in advertise me is to automatically link new articles and posts from our blog and forum to our twitter account using twitterfeed.com Basically, if you have a blog with an RSS or Atom feed, you will be able to feed this information to your twitter account. Otherwise you can use an application called TwitterDeck which allows you to simultaneously update your Twitter, Facebook and Myspace statuses.
Obviously, the objective is to advertise and market your business and at the same time drive more traffic to your websites.
