Gmail priority inbox

Early this week I noticed a new feature in my google gmail, and it’s called priority inbox. I wasn’t too sure what it was or what it did so I’ve ignored it until today. I decided to click on the link and I was presented with this video:
After watching this video I thought to myself that maybe its worth a try. Basically, gmail works out what emails are important and prioritises these at the top.
I’ve activated it and noticed that now my inbox is setup into three areas:
1. Important and unread
2. Starred
3. Less important
I like the idea that now I can easily view the starred emails but time will tell as to whether this feature will be beneficial.

Solution: Exporting gmail to pst

In one of our previous post (http://www.advertiseme.com.au/blog/index.php/2010/05/24/export-gmail-emails-to-pst/) I was looking for a solution to export my Gmail emails into a PST. I just worked a way on how to do is. With a bit of innovative thinking the solution was quite straight forward.
I looked everywhere and there are no options within Gmail to export to pst. That’s conclusive but what you can do is use your outlook and grab your emails using POP. This will basically download you emails into your outlook application. The steps are:
1. Log into gmail and click settings
2. Click “Fowarding and POP/IMAP”
3. In the POP Download section click Enable POP for all mail
4. If you don’t want to keep you emails in Gmail in step 2 select in the dropdown “delete Gmail’s copy”. This should free up all of your email space.
5. Then follow step 3 which gmail has provided detailed documentation and instructions. http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&ctx=mail&answer=12103

Once you’ve got you Gmail connected to Outlook then you will start noticing all your emails being downloaded. Now, the catch is depending on how much email you’ve got, the process may take a while.
At the end of the download process, you can create a new PST file, by clicking in outlook “File – New – Outlook Data”. Give it a name e.g Gmail Backup and then start moving your emails into that outlook pst file.
Now you may be asking me, “I don’t have outlook!”, then my response is “Then why do you want to export to PST!”.
I hope this helped some of you people out there who was looking for a solution.

ANZ Mobile Banking on the Blackberry

Today, I had to process an urgent invoice so I thought to myself why not use my Blackberry to make the payment via the ANZ website.
I thought it was going to be a very simple process, login, enter the bank details and then make the payment. This wasn’t the case.
So this is what happened: I logged in to the ANZ Internet Banking website using the built in Blackberry browser. It was then stuck on the Welcome to the ANZ Internet Banking screen and couldn’t click (press) on the “Proceed to Internet Banking”. Maybe there’s a trick to do this? More >

Google has recently released Google Buzz in Australia and we decided to jump on board and test this social networking tool. Basically, Google Buzz is very similar to Twitter but one of the main advantages of using Google Buzz is that it is already integrated with Google Gmail – what this means is that if you’ve got a Gmail account then you will be able to use Google Buzz. This was a clever move from Google because there’s already over millions of Gmail users.
